Steven Hoban was born in Ottawa, Ontario in 1964 to Kenneth and Francoise Hoban. He grew up living in a number of countries due to his father's employment with the Canadian Foreign Service. Prior to becoming a film producer his career included being VP business affairs at a completion bond company followed by co-founding and running an animation studio and R&D facility for Imax Corporation. He has produced Imax(R)3D films, feature films, short films, and animated films. Hoban's recent features include Nothing, directed by Vincenzo Natali (Cube) and Ginger Snaps III: The Beginning, directed by Grant Harvey (American Beer). Upcoming feature film productions include Black Christmas, a remake of the classic film from the early '70s that launched the serial-killer genre being written and directed by Glen Morgan (X-Files, Final Destination, The One). The short film Ryan, directed by Chris Landreth and one of Hoban's latest ventures in CG animation, has received over 75 international awards including three from the Cannes Film Festival and in 2005 won an Academy Award(R). Hoban's past productions for Imax Corporation include CyberWorld, the first IMAX(R)3D computer animated film that used cutting-edge computer animation from some of the world's leading CG artists and studios. Among the cast of characters in CyberWorld are Bart and Homer Simpson, as well as the voice talent of Woody Allen, Sharon Stone and Jenny Elfman.
